The renovation of this unassuming camp on Little Sebago Lake has given the owners new and expanded areas, converting their aged vacation home into a brighter and more spacious accommodation for living and entertaining with the potential to be their future retirement home.
Although the existing house had many of the desired rooms, most of them were just too small. The team collaborated to make some cost-effective changes to expand the existing spaces. A seemingly small one-story addition on the first floor completely revitalized the main living space, creating ample room for a large dining table neighboring a generous seating area for entertaining. The kitchen was also rearranged and renovated to increase efficiency and function.
Tucking a powder room into the entry hall allowed the owners to claim the existing first floor bathroom for their private suite. Upstairs, two lake-side dormers aided in converting the once small, dark upper bedrooms into sunny and functional spaces. One more, larger dormer was added to the front of the house to create a vaulted ceiling over the kitchen and stair while also adding a much-needed second floor bathroom.
The interior design of the home blends sleek Scandinavian elements with the traditional Maine lakeside vernacular, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. Soft blues and greens are punctuated by natural wood and neutral tones, echoing the natural hues of the surrounding landscape. New siding and windows lend a more contemporary presence while maintaining the character of the original building. An expanded deck provides the owners with an outdoor dining area, leaving plenty of open deck space to enjoy the sun.
By expanding living spaces and introducing light through textiles and color, this camp gets a respectful remodel to provide space for the owners to enjoy for years to come.
