Just a stone’s throw from Portland’s lively amenities, there’s a 3,000 square foot home tucked away on a quiet, tree-lined street that feels like it’s been there for a lifetime.
Classic New England Shingle-Style meets the Arts & Crafts era in this LEED-certified home. Designed to maximize passive solar gain, we paid special attention to the organization of the interior space. The home’s layout features five bedrooms, three and a half baths, an open concept living and dining space, and another separate living space. The house also has a detached two-car garage, something many in-town homes lack.
We implemented a solar hot water system to support radiant floors and European-style radiators on the upper two floors. The construction of the home along with all systems put in place resulted in an easy-breezy estimated home operating cost of just $70-$80 a month.
A “modern” house with a classic look, this home offers the latest in comfort, efficiency, and amenities while appearing contextually appropriate in its neighborhood.
